San Luis Potosí, Mexico — Two active members of the Municipal Police of San Luis Potosí were arrested over the weekend for the death of one of their own. The two active police elements were taken into custody on homicide charges of a fellow police woman.
According to the Fiscalía General del Estado de San Luis Potosí (FGESLP), the two men were arrested in the murder of a 33-year-old police officer from the same command.
The agency says the woman was killed by gunfire on September 28, 2021, while carrying out surveillance work outside a building on San Carlos Street in the city of San Luis Potosi.
The woman died after she was shot several times from a vehicle. Investigative police found evidence that lead to the issuance of an arrest warrant for both men. Arrested for her death were 43-year-old Misael N and 35-year-old Roberto N, both active police officers.
“Derived from intelligence and investigative acts, elements of the Investigative Police (PDI) managed to obtain evidence in the case and identified Misael “N”, 43 years old, and Roberto “N”, 35 years old,” says the statement from the San Luis Potosí Prosecutor’s Office.
Both men remain in preventative detention in the La Pila prison. The Fiscalía General del Estado de San Luis Potosí says they are continuing to investigate the reason for the alleged shooting of their partner.
