Cancun, Q.R. — Starting August, Turkish Airlines will begin offering a triangle flight that will take passengers from Istanbul to Mexico City to Cancun.
The airline, which hinted at the possibility of the new route last year, says they will offer the triangle flight three times a week beginning August 21. The flights will fly Turkish passengers out of their country on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sunday in direct, non-stop flights.
The first flight will leave Istanbul August 21 on a on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, departing from Istanbul Atatürk International Airport 20:55 and landing in Mexico City at 4:10 a.m. the next day. The flight will then carry on to Cancun, departing Mexico City at 5:30 a.m. and landing at the Cancun International Airport at 7:50 a.m.
The airline says their return flights from Cancun will depart the terminal at 9:20 a.m. and arrive in Istanbul 5:25 local time, the next day.
Darío Flota Ocampo, director of the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo, says that the new route will open a new opportunity to attract Turkish travelers to Cancun, offering from the center of the country, the sun and beach destinations of Quintana Roo.
