Costa Maya, Q.R. — An old truck used to transport sugarcane overturned on the Ejido Pucté section of highway Monday, nearly cutting off the entire highway to traffic.
The truck, which belongs to the Servicio Público Federal, overturned while carrying a 20-ton load of sugarcane. The driver was headed for the San Rafael Pucté sugar mill when the accident happened.
The load of freshly cut canes spilled across all four lanes of traffic, creating a traffic backup for nearly two hours while machines were called in to remove the canes and a tow truck arrived to upright the vehicle.
There were no injuries reported in the highway mishap.
