Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Twelve passengers were injured after the rollover of a transportation van along the federal highway. The accident happened Tuesday along a section of the Puerto Morelos-Playa del Carmen highway.
Preliminary reports say the accident was the result of excessive speed and driver error. Paramedics from Playa del Carmen arrived at the scene to tend to the injured. Of those hurt, only three were transferred to hospital for further medical attention.
Police and personnel from Civil Protection also responded to the accident, noting that upon their arrival, the driver had already fled the scene to avoid responsibility.
