Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — City firemen cut several people free after they became trapped inside a car in a two vehicle accident. Chetumal firemen used the jaws of life to remove the passengers from a Volkswagen Pointer after it collided with a Dodge RAM pickup truck Saturday.

The two vehicle crash happened outside the community of Nachi Cocom in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco Saturday afternoon. Both vehicles were found along a section of highway 186 around 2:00 p.m. in response to reports of the head-on accident.
Firemen worked to free the Pointer’s trapped occupants, three of whom were transferred to Chetumal hospital. The occupants from inside the pickup truck were treated on the side of the highway by paramedics.
National Guard Highways were at the scene directing traffic since one of the involved vehicles was left blocking a lane. Both vehicle were deemed write-offs when one of the vehicles crossed into the opposite lane, slamming head-on into oncoming traffic.

Transit officers continue with their investigation into which driver was responsible.
