Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Three people were arrested by Municipal Police Monday from a central Playa del Carmen area. The trio were taken into custody on drug charges after being found in possession of more than 100 bags of varying narcotics.
Police took the three into custody from the central neighborhood of Gonzalo Guerrero. In a news brief, local authorities reported the arrest on the afternoon of December 27. During a surveillance tour along 40th Avenue, municipal police observed three people exchanging bags of what appeared to be narcotics.
When they proceeded to approach, all three attempted to flee but were intercepted. Authorities say taken into custody was 30-year-old Simón N, 29-year-old Cosimo N and a woman, 33-year-old Giorgia N.
All three were found in possession of narcotics that included a total of 125 bags of mushrooms, hashish and marijuana. All three are Italian nationals.
