Bacalar, Q.R. — Three forest fires that had been burning around the state have been fully extinguished. The State Fire Management Centre of Quintana Roo reports that the El Haguacate and La Ceiba fires in the municipality of Bacalar, and El Guayacán in Benito Juárez, are completely out.
However, now, due to the ongoing severely dry conditions, the agency reports three more fires in the Bacalar area. The State Fire Management Centre says three additional fires are being dealt with in El Novato, La Sandrita and El Limonar, all of which, are in the municipality of Bacalar.
In a statement, they reported that the Government of Quintana Roo, through the Secretariat of Ecology and Environment and Civil Protection, in coordination with the National Forestry Commission, have permanent monitoring of all three fires.
In the state, forest fires are fought by combatants of the National Forestry Commission, volunteers from the Ejidos, INIFAP firefighters from Bacalar, the Buena Vista Rural Brigade and Civil Protection.
