Three dead, 4 injured in Yucatán highway crash

Cobá, Yucatán — A two vehicle head-on crash outside the town of Cobá has left three people dead and four with injuries.

Emergency personnel from Tulum as well as Valladolid rushed to the scene of the fatal accident where the two vehicles were discovered along the side of the highway. Inside one of the vehicles were two trapped bodies.

The high-speed crash occurred at 7:50 p.m. approximately five kilometers from the town of Cobá in the neighboring state of Yucatán. Police from Yucatán arrived to tend to the legalities, while firemen from both Valladolid and Tulum arrived to help with the removal of bodies using the jaws of life.

They report the death of three and injury of four. The injured were transferred to the the General Hospital of Valladolid. The driver of one of the involved vehicles is reported to have fallen asleep at the wheel.
