Three Cubans found with $50,000 USD arrested from Chiapas airport

Tapachula, Chiapas — Three Cuban nationals were arrested after being found in possession of more than $50,000 USD. The cash discovery was made during an inspection inside the Tapachula International Airport in the Mexican state of Chiapas.

According to a statement from the National Guard, the money was discovered while carrying out a routine inspection at the Passenger Inspection Point inside the airport. The three were detained by elements of the National Guard when they tried to board a flight to Tijuana, Baja California.

The were arrested since their cash was not claimed and they were unable to prove its origin.
