Cancun, Q.R. — About twenty Cancun-bound flights were canceled Monday due to the historic snow storm in Texas. Cancun’s managing company ASUR reported the canceled figures.
According to ASUR, flights from American Airlines, Southwest, Spirit and United Airlines are only some being affected by the massive cold system. According to FlightAware, more than 6,300 flights across the country were canceled Monday with more predicted for Tuesday.
Approximately 25 states are facing the bitter winter storm with road closures and power outages. Due to the severity of the storm, the north of Texas has been given a winter storm warning for the first time in history.
Ice accumulation on runways caused the George Bush International Airport in Houston to shut Monday. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport was also closed. American travelers hoping to escape the cold by heading south for a Cancun thaw are likely to continue seeing disruptions in those flights.
