Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The City Theater of Playa del Carmen will reopen its doors Sunday with all health measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The Director of the Municipal Institute of Culture and the Arts of Solidaridad Luis Ernesto López, explained that the Teatro de la Ciudad “will have a very orderly reopening.”
“We are increasing the protocols. Mayor Laura Beristain has requested that everything be done with great care so that people are calm and safe. We are going to receive a maximum 30 percent of the capacity, but I’ll be honest, we are going to go for less. We will take 50 requests for each weekend.”
He explained that “people will arrive and go through protocols such as temperature taking, antibacterial gel and liquid to disinfect clothes and footwear. We ask people not to bring extra objects or food and drinks,” he said adding face masks are mandatory.
Ernesto López says tickets will be free, but must be requested through the Cultura Playa application.
“This app can be downloaded from any platform for any mobile device. In the menu there is an option to request the ticket, filling out a small form to set the date with two extra dates in case one is full, you will be able to receive passes for the next available date.”
For the time being, the theater will open only Sundays. “More than opening the theater as a recreational activity, it is also part of public health and we are very excited about that. Let’s take advantage of this opportunity such as Cultural Sundays,” he said.
