Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man who is believed to be a member of the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río Taxi Drivers’ Union was shot dead Monday morning in the Bali subdivision of Playa del Carmen.
The shooting took place in the city’s south side and was reported to emergency services by area residents who heard gunshots. Neighbors called in the shooting around 3:00 a.m. to Emergency 911 who sent police to the scene.
Agents of the Municipal Police discovered the victim’s lifeless body lying on a stretch of Playa del Carmen Boulevard roadway. The taxi driver was apparently on his way to Puerto Aventuras.
The deceased has been identified as Francisco D. His body was found with several bullet wounds.
