Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A man was executed Tuesday afternoon inside a central Playa del Carmen bar in the Gonzalo Guerrero neighborhood. According to preliminary information, individuals on motorcycles arrived at the 14th Street North location and shot their intended target.
The shooting happened at an establishment located between 35th and 40th Avenues North Tuesday afternoon. In response, police were at the scene along with paramedics who confirmed the shot man had died.
Police began a search operation for the bikes believed involved, but have not announced the arrests of any suspects. The targeted shooting was not against the bar, but the person they targeted inside. It is believed to have been a settling of scores between criminal groups.
Authorities have not identified the now-deceased man. It is not clear if the targeted man was a patron or worker of the bar.
