Tabasco youth found with pre-made extortion cards jailed in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A young male accused of extorting a Playa del Carmen business owner has been jailed. Municipal officers arrested Alejandro N Thursday from the Bellavista area after responding to a 911 call.

The area resident made the call to emergency services after he was reportedly attacked and injured by the man with a machete. The injury was sustained during a struggle with the alleged extortionist.

Police responding to the report located the 24-year-old Tabasco man with the description provided. During a search, he was found in possession of a machete and two threat messages. The messages were pre-made extortion cards that consisted of a phone number to call “as soon as possible”.

Police are investigating if the man is related to other area extortion attempts.
