Suspects facing homicide charges after body found shot and left in abandoned car

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two suspects are facing homicide charges in the death of a Playa del Carmen man from February of this year. Gerardo “N” and Gonzalo “N” are identified as the alleged material authors of the events that occurred on February 11 of this year when they allegedly threatened the victim with a firearm, police reported.

The unnamed male victim was found shot to death and left inside a vehicle that was abandoned in the Ejido neighborhood.

“According to preliminary investigations, the motive for this incident stems from the victim’s involvement in drug dealing, as indicated by a message found in a vehicle next to the deceased,” they said in a statement.

Police say based on their investigations, Gonzalo “N” is part of a criminal group dedicated to the sale and distribution of illegal substances in various neighborhoods of Playa del Carmen.
