Suspect wanted in California since 2013 extradited from Mexico

Mexico City, Mexico — Pursuant to the Extradition Treaty signed between Mexico and the United States, the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) extradited a man of Mexican nationality required by the Southern District of California.

On Monday, Rubén “V” was handed over to U.S. authorities from the Mexico City International Airport for transfer. He has been wanted since May of 2013 on criminal association, drug and money laundering charges.

According to the FGR, U.S. authorities have been investigating the illegal drug trafficking and money laundering activities of members of a criminal organization.

The investigation made it possible to identify a network of high-ranking members of the group, including Rubén “V”, who participated in the smuggling of drugs from various countries including Colombia and Panama, passing through Mexican territory destined for distribution in the United States.

Rubén “V” was arrested for extradition purposes in July 2020 in Zapopan, Jalisco, and finally extradited by the Government of Mexico to the United States Government.
