Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A suspect was arrested by municipal police officers after a foot chase in the Luis Donaldo Colosio neighborhood. The man was arrested after being shot when he pointed his gun at police.
The chase took place at approximately midnight Friday. According to preliminary data, officers located a 20 year old acting suspicious. He was seen on 98th Street North between 40th and 45th Avenues carrying a bag police determined was suspicious.
When the suspect noticed police, he dropped the bag and a foot chase ensued. Police were about five meters away when the suspect turned toward them and pointed his pistol. In response, officers fired their weapons and shot him in the left leg, wounding him.
The young man was transferred by a medical unit to the General Hospital for medical attention under the custody of the municipal police. The contents of the bag turned out to be marijuana.
