Suspect considered ‘main extortionist’ of PDC businesses captured

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The State Attorney General (FGE) completed an arrest warrant against José Eduardo “N”, alias “El Ñoño” and/or “Drako”, considered one of the main extortioners of businesses in Playa del Carmen.

The arrest of José Eduardo “N” was carried out by elements of the Investigative Police on 15 bis Street with Juan Escutia in the Nicte-Há neighborhood.

The first investigations indicate that at the beginning of April 2023, José Eduardo “N”, who according to the FGE has identified himself as a member of a criminal group that operates in the city, sent extortion messages via WhatsApp to a victim demanding payment of five 1,000 pesos a month fees for “floor rights”.

In exchange they would let her work quietly. If she refused, he threatened to send hitmen to the establishment located in the Palmas II subdivision. Subsequently, on April 30, 2023, José Eduardo “N” and another person appeared at the premises to provide bank deposit details for the floor right fees.

The FGE said José Eduardo “N” along with Óscar “N”, alias “El Botitas”, were considered the main extortionists in Playa del Carmen and have been connected to other city extortions that date back to October of 2023.

José Eduardo “N” is related to multiple extortions of small businesses in Playa del Carmen where he posed, with other accomplices, as an alleged worker for a criminal leader.
