Cancun, Q.R. — After an announcement by Canada on the easing of travel restrictions, Sunwing Airlines says they plan to return to Cancun at the end of the month. They made the announcement after the Canadian government said they would begin easing border restrictions as of July 5 for fully vaccinated travelers.
With that news, Sunwing says they will resume flights into Cancun as of July 30, 2021 with the first being a partial service from Toronto and Montréal. The partial service will include Friday and Sunday flights, however, on August 21, they will begin offering Saturday flights.
The company says depending on demand, they are hoping to offer additional frequencies.
“After a difficult year, we’re excited that Sunwing Airlines will be returning to the skies with initial service from two of our busiest gateways,” said Andrew Dawson, President of Tour Operations for Sunwing.
“With vaccines rolling out across the country and borders reopening, we’re seeing a significant increase in demand for travel nationwide. We’re excited to be offering our customers frictionless vacation experiences under our wing and helping them return to the tropics safely and responsibly under our Safe with Sunwing commitment.”
