Cozumel, Q.R. — Princess Cruise ship Sun Princess made its first trip to the island of Cozumel Monday morning. The ship docked the island at the Puerta Maya terminal from where it was greeted with a warm welcome by local authorities.
Vagner Elbiorn Vega, the General Manager of the Port Administration of Quintana Roo (Apiqroo) met the ship upon its arrival.
“With the arrival of cruise ships of this magnitude, we consolidate the commitment to economic and tourism growth for our state, as part of the New Agreement for Well-being and Development promoted by our Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa,” he said.
In a brief statement, Administración Portuaria Integral de Quintana Roo (Apiqroo) said “Welcome to Cozumel, M/S Sun Princess! Monday, we welcomed this impressive cruise ship on its first arrival to the island of Cozumel
“On Monday morning, the majestic M/S Sun Princess arrived in Cozumel for the first time, docking at the Puerta Maya terminal.
“This ship, one of the largest in its class, carries a maximum capacity of 4,300 passengers and is distinguished by its commitment to the environment as the first Princess Cruise ship powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).
“This system significantly reduces its emissions and makes it a benchmark for responsible tourism.

“Apiqroo General Manager, Vagner Elbiorn Vega, gave a warm welcome to the Sun Princess, highlighting the importance of these arrivals for the well-being of families in Quintana Roo.
“Cozumel continues to shine in the Caribbean as a world-class destination, attracting responsible tourism that benefits the entire region. Welcome M/S Sun Princess!”
