Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Five stolen vehicles have been recovered in random Playa del Carmen police filters. In the past two weeks, municipal police have set up check stops on city streets.
Through the Gama Operation, Traffic Police have not only reinforced security, they have also been able to locate vehicles with reports of theft. In a statement, Solidaridad Police said the filters are being set up to check circulating vehicles for updated plates, permits and licenses, which are mandatory documents.
The agency also said to deter criminal behavior, the Preventive Police reinforces and maintains permanent surveillance at the entrance filters to the city. “In just two weeks we have recovered five vehicles reported stolen as a result of reinforcing operational, prevention and response actions against this crime,” Seguridad Pública y Tránsito Solidaridad reported.
Municipal officers have also begun removing abandoned vehicles from city streets. Vehicles that are being reported in neighborhoods as being abandoned are being recorded and removed from city streets “with the purpose of keeping roads free and preventing criminal acts.”
