Costa Maya, Q.R. — A private vehicle reported stolen in Playa del Carmen has been recovered in a security filter. On Tuesday, the Security Secretaritat of Quintana Roo said the car was located as the driver approached a Costa Maya police filter.
As the driver approached the filter, the monitoring area notified police that the plates were registered to a vehicle reported stolen in June. Police stopped the car at the filter and ran the VIN, confirming the car was with a current stolen report.
The male driver of the Ford Fiesta was arrested. The incident happened on a section of Chetumal-Bacalar federal highway. There, “officers detected the silver Ford Fiesta model car with license plates URH-108-L, with serial number 3FADP4EJ1GM101406. They ask the driver to stop to carry out the corresponding inspection.
“By verifying the data, elements of the SSC confirmed that the unit coincided with the current robbery report in the municipality of Solidaridad, dated June 26, 2023,” they reported in a statement.
