State government signs transparency agreement to eradicate corruption

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — The government of Quintana Roo and the Ministry of Public Administration have signed a coordination agreement on internal control, oversight, prevention and detection on acts of corruption.

Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa reported that the agreement reinforces Quintana Roo’s commitment to prevent, detect and eliminate acts of corruption as well as monitor the correct application of public resources both in the state and municipal administration.

The new agreement will also strengthen transparency, accountability and promote a culture of integrity in the public service, she reported.

The agreement was signed by Governor Mara Lezama and Secretary Roberto Salcedo Aquino Monday.

“These actions have the objective of giving citizens the best tools to report possible acts of corruption. With coordinated efforts between society, the federal government and the state government, we fight corruption,” Lezama said.

The Legal Counsel of the State Government, Carlos Fuentes and the Comptroller of Quintana Roo, Reyna Arceo Rosado, also attended the agreement signing event.

Governor Lezama highlighted that the state is working to eliminate all forms of corruption as well as encourage and promote mechanisms of co-creation, transparency and accountability.

She said the goal is also to improve internal controls and avoid the discretionary execution of public spending with the involvement and active participation of citizens, which she says, will increase government efficiency and public confidence.
