Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa has announced the construction of a new hospital for the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto. The announcement was made Wednesday along with the General Director of the Institute of Health for Well-being, Juan Antonio Ferrer.
The pair toured the land where construction for the new municipal General Hospital has already begun. During her announcement, Lezama said the new hospital is part of the new health system being built in Quintana Roo with sufficient personnel and infrastructure to provide people with quality services and humane treatment.
The new General Hospital will be equipped with 60 beds, a increase from the 30 beds available at the current hospital. The new facilities will also offer patients 15 offices, internal medicine and pediatrics, comprehensive hospital care services, telemedicine, two operating rooms, a labor room, x-rays, tomograph, ultrasound, mammography, blood transfusion, laboratory, medical emergencies and pediatric observation beds with isolation.
Officials did not provide a cost for the new hospital. There was no word on when the project is expected to be finished.
