Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Ten people were jailed over the weekend after several police operations in various parts of the city. In a press release by the Seguridad Pública Solidaridad (SSP Solidaridad), the 10 arrests took place in five different areas.
According to the information provided, police made the arrests on Saturday and Sunday, seizing narcotics that included crystal, cocaine, pills and marijuana. The operations took place in Colonia Colosio, Palmas 1, Villas del Sol, Colonia Centro and on First Street with Fifth Avenue.
Those detained range in ages from 21 to 59 and were from Chetumal, Oaxaca, Cozumel, Mexico City, Veracruz, Chiapas and Coahuila.
“The arrests were made through surveillance operations that are carried out every day in Solidaridad,” the agency reported.
The SSP said the operations are meant to provide greater security to the population, adding that some are coordinated with federal and state authorities through the Group Coordination for the Construction of Peace and Security in Quintana Roo.
The weekend arrests were made by elements of the Preventive Police and, in the detainment on Fifth Avenue, with assistance from the Marina and the help of a Police Canine, who marked the 59-year-old man as positive for narcotics.
