Playa del Carmen. Q.R. — Witnesses to the overturning of a speeding pickup truck in Playa del Carmen Tuesday helped a woman to hospital. Area witnesses to the accident saw the truck, which they said was speeding, hit a pedestrian walking on a sidewalk before landing on its side.
The unidentified woman was walking on a sidewalk on Chemuyil Avenue when the speeding pickup happened along. The driver lost control and hit the sidewalk, causing the full sized truck to land on its side.
When falling over, the rear of the vehicle hit the pedestrian. Witnesses said the woman was tossed a few meters, landing in roadside brush. An ambulance was called and the woman, transferred to hospital.
Police arrested the unidentified pickup driver. A tow truck was called to upright and remove the vehicle from the sidewalk. There was no word on the health status of the injured woman.
