Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Playa del Carmen firemen were able to prevent an explosion inside a home that caught fire Friday morning. Firefighters were called by neighbors in Las Palmas II in Playa del Carmen in regards to a 9:00 a.m. house fire.
Firmen arrived to a plume of thick black smoke coming from the inside of one of the joined homes.
The house, located on Palma Huracán Street, had two LP gas tanks near the source of the fire. Nervous neighbors requested the immediate assistance of firemen in order to avoid an explosion.
Civil Protection were called in to help deal with the LP gas tanks while firemen extinguished the source of the black smoke. An exact cause for the fire is still under investigation, however, a faulty DIY electrical installation project is being looked into. There were no injuries reported.
