Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The sole occupant of a compact car was killed after slamming into the base of a concrete post Sunday. The deadly accident took place during the nighttime hours of Sunday, but it wasn’t until early Monday morning that passing motorists reported it.
Police arrived at the scene where they located the completely collapsed Honda CRV. The male driver was found dead beside what was left of the vehicle. The impact was enough to cause the concrete post to break.
Members of the National Guard were sent to verify the highway accident and deceased driver while they waited for the medical examiner and State Attorney General’s Office. A cause for the accident was not provided.
