Riviera Maya, Q. R. — Six people have applied for the currently open position of State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) for Quintana Roo. One of those applicants includes its current interim, Raciel López Salazar.
Others interested in the position include Ángel Mauricio Mora Castillo, Carlos Alberto Montesinos García, Ana Elizabeth Duk Hoy, David Álvarez Cervera and Miguel Ángel Godínez Muñoz, all of whom are lawyers.
Earlier this week, the Special Commission for the election of the State Attorney General read the list of nominations. Most of the applicants meet the requirements to apply for the nine-year term position.
Those with inconsistencies have been given 48 hours to submit a revised application, which closes July 14. Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa now has 10 calendar days to shortlist the names for the local legislature who will have a say in determining the final qualifying candidate.
In late June, FGE head Oscar Montes de Oca Rosales resigned. His resignation was sudden and without public explanation. He held the position during the six-term of Governor Carlos Joaquin and nine months after Mara Lezama became the state’s current governor.
