Cozumel, Q.R. — On December 24, Cozumel hosted more than 18,000 cruise ship passengers on the seven vessels that docked the island. For the holidays, seven ships were moored on Cozumel for vacationing Caribbean holiday cruisers.
Vagner Elbiorn Vega, head of the Integral Port Administration of Quintana Roo (Apiqroo), reported the arrival of the seven boats, all on the same day. He said that that many cruise ships docked at the same time has not been seen on Cozumel for a long time.
“This year we hope to break the record for cruise passengers. We have ports that have received the highest number of visitors in the country,” he said.
He detailed that on December 24, Scarlet Lady arrived with 1,577 passengers. Carnival Glory with 3,616. Carnival Paradise with 2,641. Carnival Conquest with 3,591. Celebrity Summit with 2,425, the Adventure OTS with 3,906 and Viking Neptune with 862.
