Bacalar, Q.R. — A boat carrying seven people overturned on the Bacalar lagoon Sunday, dumping all on board into the water where they remained for nearly an hour before being rescued.
The six tourists and captain of the boat were dumped into the lagoon after a miscalculated maneuver due to strong winds. Agents from the Policía Estatal were sent out to rescue the seven from their overturned boat, Bora.
Reports say that Bora was without registration and took the six tourists out onto the lagoon for a tour where, due to a mistake and wind gusts, the boat capsized a short distance later.
Everyone on board were wearing life jackets and reported in good health when pulled from the water.
