Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Seven people arrested in central Playa del Carmen on July 23 have been charged with attempted murder. The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported the charges on July 31 from a shooting incident that left four men injured.
In their press release, the FGE said that all seven were charged with attempted murder and drug offenses from the July 23 central city shooting. According to the FGE, the four men were walking down Fifth Avenue in Playa del Carmen when Kevin “M”, Alexis “G”, Julio “A”, Omar ” P”, José “J”, Mario “S” and Braulio “L” shot at them.
“The defendants, when trying to escape, were identified by witnesses who notified the municipal police who, upon inspection, found weapons and bags with green vegetables with characteristics similar to marijuana,” the FGE reported.
All seven were ordered to remain in preventative detention for two years during their criminal process.
