Morelia , Michoacán — The driver of a tractor trailer unit attempting to speed over a train track is alleged to have caused it to derail. The semi and train collided, resulting in the train dragging the large unit for several meters before leaving its tracks.
According to the police report, the accident happened Wednesday morning at the Paseo de la República Periférico. Local video of the accident shows the conductor repeatedly blowing his whistle to alert the semi driver.
Local media reported that rescuers and emergency units attended the scene. No deaths were reported only minor injuries to the semi driver. The Municipal Government of Apaxco was forced to shut Santa María roads due to the accident.
