Bacalar, Q.R. — One person was reported injured in an early morning single vehicle accident in the municipality of Bacalar. Highway witnesses accused the driver of a semi of excessive speed when he slammed into a concrete retaining wall and jackknifed his unit.
Authorities found the crashed semi blocking one of the two lanes of the federal highway outside the community of Miguel Hidalgo Saturday morning. A second person riding in the cab of the semi was injured.
State authorities were at the scene to direct traffic around the crash site while an ambulance transferred the injured semi passenger to hospital.
An official cause for the accident is still under investigation.
