Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — After accidentally discharging a firearm, security guards with Cometra thought it best to make a break for it than report the unintentional firing of the weapon to police.
Unfortunately for them, the denotation of the gun was already reported, which sent police in their direction. The incident happened when officers with Cometra were reloading ATMs with cash in the Mega Comercial Mexicana plaze in Playa del Carmen’s city center.
One of the security guards accidentally fired his weapon. Once his colleagues realized what happended, they headed for an escape to avoid police questioning, however, law enforcement officers were already on their way.
The vehicles were stopped along Constituents Avenue between 55 and 60 streets and interrogated. Upon learning what happened, police called upon the Prosecutor’s Office to clear up the matter.
