Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Mayor Lili Campos says the city is moving forward with the cleaning of Fifth Avenue. In a press conference, Campos reported reaching an agreement with workers and unions that will see mobile businesses relocated.
She says that starting Friday, those mobile businesses, approximately 130, will be removed from Fifth Avenue and relocated along 14th,16th and 34th Streets north for proper placement. Their relocation, she says, will be the second phase of the cleaning of the city’s popular shopping avenue.
Campos stressed said that the recovery of order and tranquility is part of her administration’s goal, mentioning that the cleaning will also include improved garbage collection in addition to the removal of vending machines, ATMs and mobile covid-19 laboratories.
She said that area vendors will also be reviewed for occupancy permits, ensuring their approved business matches their set-up location.
Campos also announced that her government is in the progress of legal actions against alleged acts of corruption carried out by the past administration.
