Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — In a recent congress session, deputy Lili Campos announced “the people of Solidaridad ask that the deputies investigate the disastrous work that is being carried out on Fifth Avenue of Solidaridad.”
This was the second request presented by Campos to congress regarding the severely overdue remodeling project of the city’s main tourist areas. Campos presented her request along with a document with more than 10,000 signatures to the State Congress to authorize the creation of a Temporary Investigation Commission which would analyze the use and application of the resources disbursed by the Solidaridad City Council for the project.
“Once again, I ask my fellow MPs to attend to the needs of the citizens of Solidaridad. They have been denouncing for months and before all possible instances, that the outrageous work on Fifth Avenue of Solidaridad be solved once and for all,” she said.
In addition to presenting the 10,123 citizen signatures, deputy Campos included a document in which Playa del Carmen businessmen request information from Solidaridad City Council regarding the completion date.
“It is not only a matter of corruption, today it is a serious social problem, it is a burden that has made thousands of families who live off businesses hit rock bottom who today, have already closed their businesses,” she elaborated.
She indicated that action should be taken to make the use of public resources transparent and require the municipal government to provide a short-term date for the completion of the project along with an economic reactivation plan for the area.
