Russian ambassador requesting elimination of tourist visa

Cancun, Q.R. — The Russian ambassador to Mexico says that he intends to work with the federal government of Mexico to eliminate tourist visas for Russian visitors to the country.

Viktor V. Koronelli, ambassador of the Federación de Rusia en México says the he wants to work with the Gobierno Federal de México toward possibly eliminating the need for tourist visas for Russian visitors.

During his recent visit to Quintana Roo, he explained he is set to have a meeting with Governor Carlos Joaquín to discuss the situation.

The ambassador explained that currently there are three charter flights between Moscow and Cancun that bring nearly 50,000 visitors per year.

He reiterated that he will hold meetings with the federal government to analyze the possibility of the elimination of the visa between both nations to increase tourist flows, adding that such an agreement would benefit the state.
