Ritz-Carlton cruise ship Ilma makes first appearance at Isla Cozumel

Cozumel, Q.R. — Cruise ship Ilma of the NextGen Cruises made its first visit to the island of Cozumel. The vessel docked the island Friday at 6:00 a.m. Vagner Elbiorn Vega, the General Director of the Quintana Roo Port Authority (Apiqroo), welcomed the crew and passengers of the luxury ship.

As part of the official ceremony, the traditional exchange of plaques was carried out, a symbol of collaboration and strengthening of ties between Cozumel and the NextGen Cruises company.

This majestic luxury cruise ship, under the Maltese flag and operated by NextGen Cruises Ltd of the Ritz-Carlton brand, arrived at 6:00 a.m. from Fort Lauderdale, bound for Belize.

Ilma, whose name means “water” in Maltese, stands out in the cruise industry for offering the highest ratio of space per guest. At 240 metres long and with a maximum capacity of 448 passengers, Ilma represents the next generation of luxury at sea.

During their stay, cruise passengers had the opportunity to enjoy the beauty, culture and hospitality that make Cozumel one of the most outstanding tourist destinations in the Caribbean.
