Mahahual, Q.R. — Residents of Xcalak near the seaside town of Mahahual have closed public access to the town after one visitor was discovered with a fever.
A tourist from Belize was turned away Thursday after testing positive for a fever. Friday, residents of the small town generated a road block to prevent tourists from entering. The group says only residents of the town will be allowed to pass, and only after sanitary measures have been implemented including the use of antibacterial gel and face masks.
