Purple flag posted on Nuevo Nayarit beach after reports of large crocodile

Bahía de Banderas, Nuevo Nayarit — A popular beach in Nuevo Nayarit has been shut by authorities who are giving a large crocodile some time to leave. On Friday morning, the large reptile was seen basking in the sand before taking a long swim off the beach of Boca de Tomates.

Purple beach flags were placed in the area to warn people about the presence of the large adult crocodile. Elements of Civil Protection of the municipality of Bahía de Banderas were the ones who placed the purple flag prohibiting people from entering the water.

The suspension of the beach is only temporary and until local authorities are certain the reptile has moved on.
