Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — A taxi that had been stolen and its driver kidnapped was found burned along a dirt road. A person passing through the area located the car that had been hijacked with its driver three days before.

The incident happened near the irregular settlement of Los Sauces over the weekend where the driver and car were overtaken by three armed men. The taxi driver was released hours later in the same area, however, the men rode off with his cab.
A security guard for a nearby company found the cab while making his rounds. The taxi had been stolen three days before and left on a dirt road where it had been set on fire.
Law enforcement arrived at the scene Tuesday and confirmed that the vehicle matched the description provided by the driver.
Authorities are investigating whether this incident is connected to the recent attack on the taxi union’s offices, an event in which two drivers were abducted and subsequently released in the community of Puerto Aventuras.
