Public Works says PDC’s 10th Avenue overhaul has set completion date

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Work along Playa del Carmen’s busy 10th Avenue is expected to be finished by month’s end. The Solidaridad Public Works Secretariat reported that the work being carried out has a set deadline of March 31.

Doris Aké, who heads Public Works, says they are currently revamping the sides of the street with new infrastructure, lights and signs to improve both function and appearance.

She also clarified that the city is not working on the bike path, but rather the infrastructure around it.

“It’s not the bike path itself that is being renovated, but rather the complementary urban equipment,” she clarified.

Aké acknowledged the heavy damage done to the street with the installation of gas lines in previous years. She says 10th Street is part of the city’s repaving project for 2025 and will be repaved later in coming months.

“This artery has already been severely affected with the installation of gas pipelines, however, since that time, it has deteriorated even further,” Aké said.

Due to the accumulated deterioration, the official announced that 10th Avenue is included in the road resurfacing program for 2025, which is a project that will be carried out once the current project is completed.
