Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — State and Municipal Public Security Secretariats held a meeting to strengthen security in Solidaridad and Tulum. The weekend meeting between authorities was to seek greater collaboration on security matters between the two municipalities.
Both sides have agreed on an increased police presence in busy beach areas as well as on busy streets.
The meeting intended to reinforce work between the Municipal Police, the Secretary of State Public Security, the Secretary of the Navy, the Secretary of National Defense and the National Guard.
Their meeting was held days after the arrival of 200 marines into the state of Quintana Roo. The marines landed at the Cancun International Airport last week. They will be added to the existing forces to strengthen state security, mostly in the northern region.
