Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The driver of public combi involved in a single vehicle crash was taken to hospital after destroying his unit. The accident happened early Friday morning a few kilometers north of Playa del Carmen.
The driver was traveling a section of the federal highway near Playa Paraíso when he crashed his van around 5:00 a.m. Details surrounding how the accident occurred have not been provided by police.
The crashed van was still sitting on the side of the highway when daylight broke. Motorists traveling south during the early morning rush hour were effected by the accident scene. Traffic was slowed mostly due to the debris found scattered for meters around the accident site.
According to available information, the public van was not carrying passengers at the time of the crash. The driver was the sole occupant and did not receive life-threatening injuries. Speed is being factored into the early morning single-vehicle crash.
