Police start investigation into shoot up of home of PDC Commander

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Solidaridad police have started an investigation into the nighttime shooting of a home belonging to a city police commander. The El Pedregal neighborhood shooting was reported to emergency services Monday night.

Numerous shots were fired at the front of the home belonging to the Municipal Undersecretary of Citizen Security William “B”. A motorcycle was reported outside the home on 42nd Street around 8:00 p.m. when the firing began.

Ten casings were reported collected from the scene.

In a statement Tuesday, the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) said “following the gun attack recorded at the home of a commander of the Municipal Police of Solidaridad, who was unharmed, the FGE reports the start of an investigation to find the person or persons responsible for this event.

“Personnel from the District Attorney’s Office of the Central District are carrying out the corresponding investigations. Experts from different specialties carried out the collection of evidence at the scene of the events in order to integrate them into the investigation file and clarify this event.

“This autonomous body condemns the attack and in coordination with authorities from the three levels of government, reaffirms its commitment to Zero Impunity in the fight against high-impact crimes and bringing to justice those who break the law.”
