Police seize loaded safe house after Playa del Carmen shooting

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Police seize a loaded safe house after two people were shot in the irregular settlement of Los Sauces in Playa del Carmen Thursday, leaving one dead.

Police were called to the scene of the shooting shortly after 4:00 a.m. where they were able to secure a safe house they found that contained weapons, ammunition and money. Elements from municipal and ministerial police along with personnel from the National Guard, launched a search operation for those responsible.

It was at 8:00 a.m. when they reported the discovery of the empty safe house. No arrests were made.

Both shooting victims were rushed to hospital during the early morning hours, however, one of the victims, who was reportedly shot in the head, was pronounced by medical staff at 6:00 a.m. The second shooting victim is reported stable in hospital.
