Holbox, Q.R. — Police say a criminal group operating in the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas has been captured. They are facing drug trafficking charges following their Tuesday arrests on the island of Holbox.
Investigative Police officers arrested eight people for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking. Five men and three women were taken into custody on the island Tuesday.
They have been identified as Carlos “N”, Miguel “N”, José del Carmen “N”, Alejandro “N”, Alfredo “N”, Tahimi “N”, Nayeli Dianari “N”, and Rosa “N”.
The arrests occurred on Canané Street between Pedro Joaquín Coldwell and Paseo Carey Avenues, on Holbox Island, police reported. During their arrests, they were found in possession of marijuana.
“It should be noted that those arrested are alleged members of a criminal group responsible for violence in the state, dedicated to the sale and distribution of narcotics,” police added in a statement.
