Police nab suspect in central PDC armed robbery

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Playa del Carmen police apprehend the suspect in a recent convenience store robbery. The man was arrested on a warrant after being captured on surveillance cameras robbing the store at gun point.

The armed robbery happened on October 24 of this year inside a convenience store on 30th Avenue in central Playa del Carmen. Surveillance cameras captured the man in a blue shirt entering the store and immediately showing his weapon.

Customers at the counter fled toward the back of the store while the thief demanded cash from the store employee behind the counter. Footage shows the cashier handing over the cash, which the man took before walking out the front door.

Local police say they have arrested the person believed the armed robber. Raúl “N” is currently facing charges of armed robbery for the Thursday event.

In a statement, police said “Raúl “N” appeared at a convenience store located on Avenida Norte between avenues 30 and 32 in the Centro neighborhood on October 24 of this year, where he showed the employee a firearm that he was carrying in his waist, demanding that she hand over the money that was in the cash register.”

The cashier is captured on camera handing over the cash at gunpoint.

The store employee filed a complaint, which lead to the arrest. Raúl “N” was taken into custody by elements of the Investigative Police while he was walking along Zapote Street between Ceiba and Caoba in the Villamar neighborhood, police reported.

Raúl “N” is currently being held in custody pending official charges.
