Holbox, Q.R. — A man alleged to have been involved in the sale of drugs was killed Wednesday night on the island of Holbox. Ministerial authorities continue to investigate the death of the man who has been identified as Miguel N.
His body was found in the Los San Manueles neighborhood of the island. Police reportedly received the call of an injured man at 10:00 p.m. at the bottom of Esmedregal Street. When police arrived, he was alive and suffering from a head injury. He was transferred to hospital, but later died from his injuries.
Holbox mayor Nivardo Mena Villanueva said that the death is an isolated case and does not affect tourist activities, adding that the small island is known for its tranquility and that police surveillance will be reinforced in Holbox and also in Kantunilkin to prevent violence from escalating.
